Ajax Glass & Mirror has been a part of the Fort Worth community since 1945. Currently operating are third generation, Buddy Moses, and fourth generation, Blake Halpern, son in law of Buddy. Buddy’s grandfather and his great uncle started the business in a small building, blocks from the Courthouse, in downtown Fort Worth, originally specializing in automotive glass installation. Upon the passing of one of the partners, Buddy’s father, R.D. Moses, joined the firm in the mid 1950’s. R.D. recognized the growth potential of expanding their service into a full service glass and mirror company, providing furniture tops, mirrors, and shower doors. This became a strong core of the business, used by both homeowners and home-builders alike.
Outgrowing several downtown locations, R.D. Moses moved the business to West Vickery in 1975. With a small fleet of four trucks and skilled employees, Ajax began to service Fort Worth and the surrounding communities. Providing great customer service combined with competitive prices, the new building was quickly outgrown and 22,000 square feet were added to the still-new locations in 1978. That also included enlarging their showroom, where they showcased hundreds of decorated mirrors, as well as a display of custom shower doors.
After completing his business degree from The University of Texas, Buddy joined the firm in the late 1970’s to work alongside his father and grandfather. While learning the technical aspects of the business, Buddy paid close attention to the important lessons his father taught him about running any successful business. Providing great customer service, taking time to listen to what the customer has to say and treating people fairly were the core values upon which the business remains based to this day.
As sales continued to grow during the 1980s, Buddy saw further opportunity to expand into both commercial storefront installations as well as builder’s hardware products. With a constant eye on customer service, Ajax Glass & Mirror is often recognized as the leading glass shop in Fort Worth. It is often called upon for creative, custom jobs that are beyond the ability of other firms. With a dedicated and well-trained staff who travel the metroplex in their fleet of service vehicles, Ajax continues to help build Fort Worth with a broad list of services including shower doors, furniture tops, commercial storefronts, over 500 framed mirrors, and one of the largest selections of builder’s hardware in the metroplex.
In 2008, due to continued growth, Ajax Glass & Mirror once again moved to a new larger facility at 6200 Southwest Blvd. Located in the bustling southwest Fort Worth, with over 50 employees & 15 service vehicles, we remain an integral part of the Fort Worth community.
